Feel Good, Look True: Fashion, Skincare & Entertainment I Love

 Welcome back to The AnnaQuari!

This is the fourth post I am creating and I am happy to share my 4th day of blogging with you and something that always makes my days brighter – fashionable clothes that I feel like they were made for me, skincare routine, and a pinch of entertainment that helps me to relax.

Comfort Is My Fashion Statement

My philosophy when it comes to clothing is always comfort. In my opinion, fashion is not about paying attention to the trends, but rather about being an individual. I prefer both casual and formal clothes, but only if they are comfortable to wear and make me feel good.

Most of the time I prefer pastel shades such as:

  • Ice blue
  • Beige
  • Shocking pink (as in a daring one!)
  • Olive green
  • Black (always a classic)

I like wearing light clothes, small prints, and airy outfits. Every time I am going somewhere or invited to somebody’s house or any kind of event, I select clothes that correspond to my character – calm, comfortable and happy.

Minimal Makeup, Maximum Confidence

I also understand that many girls do enjoy using makeup and it is perfectly alright! However, for myself, I do not like wearing makeup daily. It is slick to me and feels awkward, and I am more comfortable without it to myself.

So here’s my gentle suggestion: if you are young and your skin naturally glows, then let it glow on its own. Instead of concealing it with layers of cosmetics, take a good care of your skin.

As much as I think makeup is fun once in a while – it should not be at the expense of one’s comfort.

My Go-To Skincare Routine

Skincare is the best if you want to smell good, to feel fresh, and even look beautiful without having to go through the hassle of makeup. Here is a basic and easy regimen that I recommend for any teenager:

  • Gentle Cleanser – This cleanses your skin without leaving it dry.
  • Moisturizer – The product acts as a moisturizer and provides your skin with a natural glow.
  • Sunscreen – Protects the skin from sunburns and premature aging.
  • Facial Mist or Toner – You can take it anywhere and it can give a refreshing feel in any time.
  • Lip balm – It is also very important to keep lips healthy!

Here is the list of affordable & good skincare products that I would like to suggest:

  • Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
  • Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer
  • Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen
  • Garnier Rose Water Toner
  • Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips
  • Jewelry & Personal Taste

I do not like wearing gold jewelry – it does not appeal to me in some way. But silver jewelry? That’s my thing!

My personal favorite is a star shaped silver necklace that I once purchased; it suited me to the letter. I rarely wear rings for I believe they do not complement my hands in any way. But that is just my opinion, though. Remember: fashion and accessories are all about what you feel comfortable with and makes you feel comfortable with it.

Everyone has their own style. Don’t ever feel embarrassed or guilty for not appreciating what others do. That’s the mantra and what we need to do is to dress as we wish and be comfortable in what we are wearing.

A Gentle Note to Teenagers

If you start thinking that you are not good enough for someone, or you are not stylish enough, or not a good dancer, or you are big or too small, or you are not good at talking, just remember that you don’t have to prove anything to anyone.

Here’s my personal advice:

In terms of changing our appearance (for example, to lose weight), then this must be done solely for oneself and not for the society.

But if you are satisfied with who you are, I don’t think you should do it.

There can never be anything as more important as your peace.

Be yourself, because being yourself is your strength.

Time for Entertainment: My Favorite Dramas

Next on our list, let’s discuss something entertaining: TV series! As for me, I like watching dramas as they make me calm down and make me more inspired. Some of the best shows I watch include K-dramas, C-dramas, and Turkish series. Here are few that I really liked and would like to share with you:

K-Drama: Vincenzo

  • Genre: Action, Law, Comedy
  • Story: A Korean-Italian mafia lawyer battles against the evil corporations in a fun and stylish manner.
  • Why I love it: It is an exciting and humorous piece that leaves you with many surprises.

Turkish Drama: Cam Tavanlar (Love Reserved)

  • The heroine is strong, intelligent and elegant – she is the perfect woman I am looking for.
  • It is a romantic drama about love, success, and not losing time for what matters in life.
  • Lesson: Opportunity knocks on your door only once, so he who gets the opportunity should go for it.

C-Drama: Mr. Honesty

  • This drama taught me how much I despised lies in the past but I learned that truth will always prevail.
  • It is sweet and innocent with nice feelings and change, which is very rare in most anime.
  • Why These Dramas Matter:These are not children’s shows for fun, I have learnt:

Confidence (from Vincenzo)

Courage with courtesy (from Cam Tavanlar)

Honesty: The speech of Mr. Honesty is about being honest and having high self-esteem.

Sometimes, the pictures that we see, portray the things that we experience. Sometimes, seeing the portrayal of good characters on television and other forms of media can make us want to be like them.

This post is not about giving anyone lessons on what they should do or not do. It is about the way I want to do it. You can wear them, speak as you want, and even dream in your own way.

So, however you choose to occupy yourself—do it comfortably, with confidence, and being gentle on yourself.

Take care of your skin.

Dress how you like.

Watch what makes you smile.

And more than anything else—stay authentic.

Bonus Tip:

Sometimes it is perfectly acceptable and desirable to stand out from the crowd. It is also important to note that life is too short to waste it being someone that you are not.
